Fans watching Netflix series My Secret Terrius have been shocked by the similarities it has to the current coronavirus pandemic.

The series is a South Korean title which came out on MBC in 2018 and is now available to stream on the platform.

The story focuses on a woman called Go Ae-rin who finds out her late husband was part of a massive conspiracy.

One of the scenes shows that a coronavirus has been harnessed by terrorists so it can be used as a weapon, while doctors rush to find a cure.

A clip shows a character saying that ‘the coronavirus has an incubation period of two to 14 days. The virus was manipulated to attack the lungs directly within just five minutes of being exposed’.

According to Snopes, the rumour that My Secret Terrius predicted COVID-19 is false. While the scene itself is real, the coronavirus has been around for decades.

The site says that scientists identified human coronaviruses in the 1960s, and outbreaks such as MERS in 2012 have taken place before the current pandemic.

Similarly, the SARS outbreak happened in 2002, and all of the diseases come from the same group of viruses.
