Netflix is known for bringing out hugely popular shows, from Stranger Things to Money Heist. More recently, Bridgerton has been a cult phenomenon, but now the series has made way for a new hero – Squid Game.

The show is centered around 456 people playing a life or death game in Korea, and the series has picked up 111 million views in just 28 days. To put this figure in perspective, Netflix has over 200 million subscriptions globally, which means the ratio is huge.

If one was to compare this figure with movie sales, Titanic sold 135.5 million tickets, so Squid Game isn’t far off one of the most popular movies of all time. Although Netflix only counts two minutes as a view, there will no doubt have been millions of people who binge watched the whole series.

For those who haven’t seen it yet, Squid Game starts with a divorced father who is down on his luck and agrees to take part in a game which offers the winner a massive jackpot. However, there’s one terrible catch – those who lose the game are executed.

This show has all of the elements which make for a classic Netflix classic – an outrageous plot, a number of twists and turns and cliffhangers which leave viewers on the edge of their seat. Don’t forget, Netflix has a basic subscription on offer for just $8.99 per month.
