Video giant YouTube has released a trailer for its first interactive original show, A Heist with Markiplier, featuring the gaming personality who rose to fame on the platform.
Viewers will be able to lead Markiplier through a heist, with 61 total videos being made and 31 possible endings available.
The show, which is released on October 30, is the first interactive show to be funded by YouTube’s Originals program. Hints about such an investment had been made by YouTube in April, although no details were offered at the time.
Interactive shows began featuring on YouTube around a decade ago, with early editions using the old annotation feature to let viewers select a choice and move on to another video. In 2017, Markiplier made one himself, called A Date with Markiplier.
Recently, YouTube Originals have undergone some changes. For example, Premium subscriptions are no longer required to access this branch of content, and existing shows which used to need payment before they were unlocked are being made exempt from this requirement.
Fans of interactive content have previously enjoyed shows such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch on Netflix, which was followed by an interactive Bear Grylls show on the platform.
