Netflix is constantly tinkering with various new features and tweaks, and now there’s a new opt-in selection which will automatically download new content the app believes you will like, based on your viewing habits.
The feature is called Downloads For You and scours through data concerning what you’ve watched in the past to find shows and movies which are a good match. Then your mobile device will have the titles downloaded and ready to go once it’s connected to a WiFi network.
Patrick Flemming, Netflix’s Director of Product Innovation, said in a statement: ‘Whether you’re a comedy fan stuck on a long car ride or a rom-com lover without internet, we do the work so there is always something new waiting to entertain and delight you.’
Those with Android products can set up the new feature by going to the Downloads tab on their mobile device and toggling on the Downloads For You option. You can select how much content you want downloaded, with the options being 1GB, 3GB or 5GB.
The feature comes in the aftermath of the Smart Downloads system, which deletes a downloaded episode after you’ve watched it and automatically downloads the next one.
