Fans of Netflix series Stranger Things will know that season four has been confirmed. However, hopes of being able to see the new episodes next summer have been dashed, as TV Line has revealed the show will be filming for eight months next year.
The report stated that season 4 currently has plans to commence shooting in January and finish in August. Plus there will still be work to do from the post-production team, so the earliest fans will see the new season is most likely around this time next year.
Season 4 will also be slightly shorter than the previous season, with eight episodes instead of the nine seen in season 3.
Season 3 was released in line with the Fourth of July celebrations, meaning that it came out during the peak of summer. Season 2 was a Halloween release, and the first season had no particular celebration attached to it.
If the writers continue the pattern started in season 2 of tying their releases with specific dates, Christmas seems a reasonable guess to assume for now.
A short teaser was released for season 4 in recent months, revealing to fans that ‘We’re not in Hawkins anymore’. There are also rumours that Hopper is still alive, after being presumed dead in the explosion at the end of season 3 which tragically saw him caught up in it.
The shows’ official Twitter account is regularly posting a list of films that have inspired the show, with small hints as to what will be coming up. For example, fans now know that Joyce will struggle with survivors’ guilt after being the one to cause Hopper’s fate in the explosion.
