Hotly anticipated Netflix series The Witcher hasn’t launched its first season yet, but the second series has already been announced.
Netflix took to Twitter today to reveal the news, with reports revealing that the second season – which is slated to have eight episodes – will begin production in early 2020.
The Witcher is based on the novels and short stories from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, and it is best known for the video games which spawned from it.
The first season of the series will make its debut on Netflix on December 20, with Henry Cavill starring as protagonist Geralt of Rivia.
Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said: ‘I’m so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.’
The Witcher tells the story of how three individuals navigate their destinies in a world called The Continent. Humans, elves, gnomes, monsters and witchers all co-exist, and it isn’t clear where the divide between good and evil is.
