Excitement – and speculation – is rising for the new Marvel series, Loki, which will make its debut on new streaming service Disney Plus.
In the aftermath of news that Sophia Di Martino is joining Tom Hiddleston in the cast as a co-star, with information on what her role will be yet to be announced, fans are speculating that she could be playing a female Loki.
Deadline confirmed that Di Martino would be part of the show, which will air in spring 2021 and run for six episodes. The publication also stated that a ‘source close to the production’ had dropped hints suggesting she could be playing a female Loki.
Some may confuse this kind of female Loki with Natalie Portman’s Thor, as seen in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. However, in the Loki comics, Loki is seen as a shapeshifter who has been known to take on the female form.
The upcoming Marvel Studios series is directed by Kate Herron, with Michael Waldron as head writer. The events in the series take place after those seen in the movie Avengers: Endgame.
