Ru Paul is known for Ru Paul’s Drag Race, but now he is moving into another genre as he stars in new Netflix series AJ and the Queen.
In the sitcom, Ru Paul plays Robert Lee, who is also a drag queen named Ruby Red with dreams of turning her passion into a full time job.
While Ruby makes plans to open her own drag club, a conman played by Josh Segarra and his partner Lady Danger interfere by operating a scam.
During a cross-country roadshow Ruby goes on to build up the funds again, she finds a recently-orphaned child called AJ who she takes under her wing.
The series description from Netflix states: ‘This fun, outrageous series explores ideas of family, friendship, love, and loss.
‘Together they help each other navigate the heartbreaking past, the challenging present and a hopeful future as Ruby and AJ travel the USA searching for a little happiness and the very best breakfast waffle.’
Ru Paul fans can expect plenty of performances and glamour from the icon in every episode. The series will premiere on 10 January 2020.
