Star Wars content is already a big presence on new streaming service Disney Plus, with The Mandalorian proving to be a big hit for subscribers who tune in for a new episode each week.
There have been announcements that the new platform will have series based on Obi-Wan Kenobi, plus a second series of The Mandalorian and a prequel to Rogue One.
Now there are rumours that Disney Plus is planning either a standalone series or a feature in another series for Doctor Aphra.
Doctor Aphra is a popular comic book character and criminal archaeologist who started out employed by Darth Vader. After going into hiding from him, she built up a team including villain editions of C3PO and R2D2, as well as a Wookiee bounty hunter called Black Krrsantan.
As the first original Star Wars character who wasn’t in the films but was the lead in a Marvel comic series, a Doctor Aphra show on the platform would be a welcome addition for diehard Star Wars fans.
