HBO Max is taking on four talented writers to develop a comedy pilot for the upcoming streaming platform.
Paul W Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky will be working on the untitled script for HBO Max. Meanwhile, Michael Schur will executive produce through his production company, Fremulon.
Schur is behind shows such as The Good Place, The Office and Parks and Recreation, while Downs, Aniello and Statsky previously worked on Broad City.
The pilot has been described as a dark comedy about two women who are in a dysfunctional friendship. The women comprise a 25 year old outcast and an older diva from Las Vegas.
Schur is currently also an executive producer on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, while Downs is a consulting producer on The Other Two from Comedy Central.
Aniello co-wrote and produced Rough Night, starring Scarlett Johansson, and has also recently directed the pilot for Comedy Central’s Awkwafina is Nora From Queens.
