Netflix is clearly a fan of Adam Sandler – or at least, the popularity of his movies – as they have extended their contract with his production company, Happy Madison Productions.
Sandler will produce another four films for the streaming platform as part of the deal. His comedy, Murder Mystery, was Netflix’s most popular movie in 2019.
The first deal between Sandler and Netflix was signed back in 2014, and it stated that he would produce and star in four films exclusively made for the service. Another four films were ordered in 2017.
Since this time, Sandler has starred in films such as The Do-Over, Sandy Wexler, The Week Of, Murder Mystery, The Ridiculous Six and a stand-up special called 100% Fresh.
Ted Sarandos, chief content officer for Netflix, said in a statement about the extended deal: ‘Whether you know him as Sandman, the Water Boy, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Nick Spitz or simply Adam, one thing is clear: our members can’t get enough of him.
‘They love his stories and his humor, as we saw with Murder Mystery. So I could not be more excited to extend our partnership with Adam and the Happy Madison team and deliver more laughs around the world.’
