In January, rumours began to circulate that there would be a Netflix scripted series based on the horror franchise Resident Evil.
Now the speculation has gone into overdrive, as the streaming platform has published – and then suddenly pulled – an official description for the potential series.
However, before the information could be removed from the public eye permanently, Wayback Machine managed to archive the page, and the @RE_Wiki account on Twitter published a screenshot to its following.
The description states: ‘The town of Clearfield, MD has long stood in the shadow of three seemingly unrelated behemoths—the Umbrella Corporation, the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum, and Washington, D.C. Today, twenty-six years after the discovery of the T-Virus, secrets held by the three will start to be revealed at the first signs of outbreak.’
The January rumours stated that German production and distribution company Constantin Film would be in the studio, with a search underway for a showrunner.
The Resident Evil films franchise got started back in 2002 with the self titled movie, and there are currently six movies – all produced by Constantin. The final movie was a wrap in 2016 and titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Constantin Film has since supposedly gone on to hire Johannes Roberts to write and direct a potential reboot, which would feature a fresh cast.
