Netflix has recently released Pete Davidson’s stand up comedy special Alive From New York, but the comedian has ruffled a few feathers with his jokes.
The show’s content first caused controversy when the trailer was released a few weeks ago, as his joke about some gay men not being gay at all based on how they touch women offended some people.
‘It’s that gay dude that’ll run up on your girlfriend and squeeze her boobs and slap her ass and be like, ‘Damn, girl, you look great!’
‘I don’t find that f–king funny. Like, at all. I’m sorry. Like, I’m all for the gayness, you know, it doesn’t mean I’m against gayness. It’s just like, you get to slap ass on a technicality? That’s not f–king fair at all.’
LGBTQ activists called the joke homophobic and misogynistic, with Jill Gutowitz describing it as damaging. However, many women have defended the joke, saying they’ve been touched inappropriately by gay men before.
