Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have another streaming project on their hands, as their production company Higher Ground takes on Exit West.
The film is an adaptation of the novel by Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid, and Netflix will co-produce with Joe and Anthony Russo.
The pair are known for their work on Avengers: Endgame and have been working on Exit West since acquiring the rights to the novel in 2017.
It is reported that filming will commence in the spring, with actor Riz Ahmed both executive producing and playing Said, one of the main roles.
The movie tells the story of conservative Said and independent woman Nadia, and their love story against a backdrop of emerging civil war. They migrate to the West, travelling to Mykonos, London and then California.
The film looks at migrant communities and their struggles with populations of privileged citizens who don’t want them around. Barack Obama listed the book as one of his favourites in 2017.
