The release of Pandemic on Netflix may seem spooky compared with the current coronavirus situation, but it can teach us a lot about how pandemics work.

The episodes discuss outbreaks including the 1918 Spanish flu, Ebola and the common flu. It also talks about how important it is to develop vaccines and how to avoid spreading illnesses during an outbreak.
The first episode gives people an insight into who is working on finding a universal cure for the flu. Figures include Dr Dennis Carroll, Director of the US Agency for International Development’s Emerging Threats Unit.
The World Health Organisation has reported that the coronavirus has killed over 4600 people, with numbers continuing to rise as the outbreak spreads further.
