Rumours of a new Nvidia Shield TV device have come to fruition, as the beady-eyed among us have spotted a Bluetooth certification filing which appears to be related to an upcoming piece of streaming equipment.
It would seem that the new Shield device will come in the form of a dongle instead of a box, and it has just received certification from the Bluetooth SIG Qualification program.
The listing apparently confirms that the device will be using the Android Pie version of Nvidia’s Shield TV interface, as well as the 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard.
Rumours of a new device have been circulating in the tech community since March 2019, as there was code which indicated there would be a new controller and remote.
There are plenty of other streaming sticks currently on the market, such as the Roku streaming stick and the Xbox TV stick. It will be interesting to see how the Nvidia dongle fares in comparison.
Indeed, the dongle will have a lot to live up to as it will be compared with the Nvidia Shield. Its predecessor boasts specs such as an 8 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, plus a 2.2GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor and 2GB of RAM.
