The CW is home to the TV incarnations of plenty of superheroes – notably Green Arrow and the Flash. Now, they could be joined by live-action versions of the Powerpuff Girls.
Greg Berlanti, executive producer of many of The CW’s superhero TV programmes, is executive producing the new in-development show through Berlanti Productions – along with Sarah Schechter and David Madden. Warner Bros. Television will produce, and Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody will both executive produce and write the series.
The new series is set to focus on the Powerpuff Girls Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup as adults, now jaded by their crime-fighting childhood – but the world needs their heroics once again.
The original cartoon saw the three superheroes created by Professor Utonium when he mixed sugar, spice and everything nice with Chemical X.
Casting details and a release date for the live action series are not yet known.
