Apple TV+ is releasing an original film called Swan Song, which will star Mahershala Ali. The movie has been described as ‘a genre bending drama’ set in the near future.
Directed by Benjamin Cleary, the feature has a script which ‘immediately connected with’ Apple, according to Matt Dentler – head of feature development and acquisitions at the company.
The movie will be released for a theatre run as well as its debut on the streaming service. It goes into production this spring with Apple and Anonymous Content.
The plot is said to focus on the lengths someone will go to and the sacrifices they’ll make to create a happy future for their loved ones.
Cleary said: ‘I’ve been developing Swan Song for a while and when I sat down with Apple it was immediately clear they completely understood my vision.
‘Once Mahershala agreed to join us I knew we had something special.’
Other upcoming original films set to join Apple’s content library include Boys State, The Banker, Beastie Boys Story, On The Rocks and Wolfwalkers.
