It’s been over a decade since the original Avatar movie came out, and now there is new concept art for the sequel. The images were revealed at the recent CES event in Los Angeles, where Mercedes-Benz unveiled a new Avatar themed concept car along with the art.
The images show different areas of Pandora, the planet where Jake Sully went to replace his deceased twin brother and connect with the avatar which was created. He then fell in love with one of the locals and decided not to return to Earth.
The first Avatar movie came out in 2009 and became the biggest box office hit. This is where it stayed until Avengers: Endgame took the top slot just last year. The new movie has been delayed a few times, more recently due to Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox.
After an 11 year wait, we now know that Avatar 2 will be released on December 17, 2021. Three more will follow it, being released every year afterwards to alternate with new Star Wars movies.
It’s also currently possible to watch the original Avatar movie on Disney Plus, and it would be safe to presume that all of the sequels will be uploaded to the platform in good time following their cinema debut.
