Those who have been using Disney+ from the start will know that the new streaming service doesn’t contain all of the key titles in its library just yet. One of the shows which doesn’t currently feature is the live-action Aladdin movie, which was released in theaters in May.

However, it’s said that the show will be coming to at least Australian viewers from January 18 2020, along with a number of new titles set to hit the platform in the new year.

If you’re already a fan of the Aladdin remake, you’ll be pleased to know that Disney have started working on a spin-off revolving around Prince Anders. Billy Magnussen is reported to be involved in the project.

The live action Aladdin remake was directed by Guy Ritchie. Notable stars include Will Smith, Naomi Scott, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Marwan Kenzari and Mena Massoud. The story premise is that a street urchin finds a magic lamp with a genie inside. He hopes to woo Princess Jasmine with the genie’s help while also outwitting a sorcerer who wants the lamp for himself.

Aladdin became the seventh highest-grossing film of 2019, and due to the movie earning over US $1 billion worldwide, there are talks of a sequel being in the works.

If you haven’t seen the original yet, the 1992 animated movie is currently available to stream on the platform.
