Star Wars fans are truly having their moment now that Disney+ is around, as there are now talks of a Star Wars inspired Rogue One prequel being planned for the streaming service. It’s rumoured that Lucasfilm is working on a show which centers on Cassian Andor, the Rebel Alliance spy, before his mission with the team on Rogue One.
The showrunner is Stephen Schiff, while the writer and director is Tony Gilroy. Filming will begin this year, and currently we can expect to see the series being released in 2021.
Characters we can expect on the show include Cassian and his sidekick K-2SO, voiced by Alan Tudyk, plus Mundo and Cinta, a Latina male and female who are said to be identical in personality and appearance.
The seed for an origin story was planted when Cassian told Jyn Erso in Rogue One that he had been at war with the Empire since he was six. It’s therefore safe to guess that we will see the battle and trauma which shaped Cassian in this prequel series.
The news of this show broke via the Illuminerdi, and there is also set to be a second Star Wars live-action series starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
