HBO Max have announced that the Looney Tunes are being given a second life on their platform.
WarnerMedia has revealed that the classic show, along with other Hanna-Barbera cartoons and an original series called Jellystone, will form part of the streaming platform’s family friendly offering.
Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max, said: ‘As we build and expand our kids and family programming slate, we’re re-introducing some of the most cherished and iconic characters and creating new animated friends to fall in love with.
‘These new series from the talented teams at Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios are sure to become instant classics.’
Other family programming coming to HBO Max includes Sesame Street, Studio Ghibli films and a Gremlins animated series.
Sam Register, Warner Bros Animation president, said: ‘With Looney Tunes Cartoons and Jellystone, our artists have captured the timeless charm of these characters to create cartoons we know that kids and parents will love watching together.’
HBO Max will be home to 80 11 minute episodes of Looney Tunes Cartoons. The new series Jellystone will feature Hanna-Barbera characters such as Captain Caveman, Jabberjaw, Doggie Daddy, Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo.
A prehistoric comedy called The Fungies is also in the works from Stephen Neary and Cartoon Network Studios, focusing on a science-loving student called Seth who is prone to stirring up trouble in his town.
Tig’n’Seek chronicles the adventures of eight year old Tiggy and his cat Gweeseek as they hunt down the lost items of Wee Gee City. Finally, Tooned Out is a live-action and animated hybrid which documents Mac, a guy who starts seeing cartoon characters as he goes about his everyday life.
