HBO Max is working with Greg Berlanti – the producer behind hits such as Riverdale and The Flash – on an adaptation of New York Times best selling novel The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
The story chronicles the journey of Henry Monty Montague, a bisexual British Lord who tours 18th century Europe with his best friend – and secret love – Percy. However, his reckless decisions lead to big consequences as he carelessly enjoys his final party before taking over the family estate.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue was published by HarperCollins in 2017, with a follow-up being published in 2018 called The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. There is another coming up – The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky – in December of this year, with The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks planned for 2020.
Berlanti is involved in the creation of shows for all Warner Bros Television platforms thanks to a $300m deal he signed with them last year. The content creation spans across broadcast, basic cable, premium cable and streaming platforms.
