Peacock continues its journey to become a top streaming choice for sports fans. NBCU has revealed that Peacock will be streaming the entire British Open, and there will be eight hours of exclusive coverage on top of simulcast coverage on NBC and the Golf Channel.
The Open Championship can be streamed by Peacock subscribers with a premium account. This subscription costs $4.99 a month, but it is free for those subscribed to either Comcast or Cox Internet.
A number of perks come with this coverage, such as a featured holes feed focusing on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes. The first two rounds will have coverage from 1:30am to 4pm ET, and simulcast coverage from the Golf Channel comes between 4am and 3pm.
Exclusive coverage will be shown from 1:30am to 4am ET, then 3pm to 4pm ET. In the final two rounds fans can view simulcasts from NBC and the Golf Channel from 5am ET for Round 3 and 4am ET for the Final Round.
The aim for Peacock is to encourage fans to choose the streaming platform for the 2020 Olympics coverage in Tokyo. Previous efforts to establish itself as a sports streaming authority include streaming the Stanley Cup Semi Finals and Final for Premium subscribers.
