There isn’t long to go before the Smith vs Teixeira fight airing on ESPN+ as part of the UFC Fight Night Jacksonville.
Fans will know that the two key fighters here are Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira. While Smith is a #3 ranked light heavyweight and Teixeira is #8, Teixeira has a BJJ Black belt in his arsenal.
Currently, Smith has 29 wins by knockout or submission, and he’s coming off a victory over Alexander Gustafsson in June. He’s only lost to Jon Jones in the light heavyweight division, meaning he’s won four out of five of his last games.
Meanwhile, Teixeira has 25 wins by knockout or submission to his name, and is currently on a 3-fight win streak. Like Smith, he lost to Jon Jones, with his loss taking place in 2014.
Another fight taking place is Ben Rothwell vs Ovince St. Preux. While St Preux is a former title challenger and is making his heavyweight debut, he has 4 submission victories with the Von Flue choke – a unique selling point for him.
Meanwhile, Rothwell is taking part in his 50th pro fight and a win here would be his second in a row.
ESPN+ subscribers can watch this fight exclusively live on the platform, and linear TV viewers will need to wait until it’s over for an immediate replay.
It airs on Wednesday, May 13. 6pm ET is the time for Prelims, and 9pm ET is Main Card. You can sign up for ESPN+ right here.
