An upcoming Netflix TV series for the Egyptian market will see Ahmed Amin cast in the feature. The show is based on the Paranormal books, best-selling novels in the Arab world from author Ahmed Khaled Tawfik.
The series is set in 1960s Egypt, and sees Dr Refaat Ismail submerged in a trail of supernatural happenings as he works to uncover the mystery overshadowing each occurrence.
Actor and writer Ahmed Amin is set to take on the lead role of single hematologist Dr Refaat. The series will enter the production stage in November.
Showrunner, director and producer of Paranormal Amr Salama said: ‘Amin brings a level of authenticity and a powerful on screen presence that we felt was the ultimate fit for the portrayal of Dr. Refaat Ismail.
‘With such a strong local cast paired with striking special effects, we can’t wait to get production underway next month.’
Paranormal marks Netflix’s first venture into Egyptian drama, and will remain committed to creating authentic content with a full Egyptian cast for a global audience.
