Upcoming NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock is casting for a YA mystery drama pilot called One Of Us Is Lying.
The series is based on the best selling novel by Karen M McManus, and the ensemble cast will feature Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuiken Uche, Jessica McLeon, Barret Caranahan and Melissa Collazo.
The story explores what unfolds when five high schoolers enter detention but only four leave alive. With everyone a suspect, and all students having something to hide, the plot soon thickens.
Tejada plays Bronwyn, who is intellectual and ambitious, with people admiring her more than they like her. Nate is played by van Grootel, and the character is a drug dealer who lives with his alcoholic father.
Cochrane plays Addy, the popular cheerleader who fears what people would uncover if they really got to know her. Uche plays Cooper, a baseball pitcher who has been scouted by major leagues.
McLeod is Janae, a social outsider and punk who dislikes the fakeness of her classmates. Carnahan plays football captain Jake who is dating Addy and seems to have it all.
Collazo plays Maeve, Bronwyn’s little sister who spent several years of her childhood battling with leukemia and wants to make up for lost time.
Other pilot orders from Peacock are Punky Brewster and Straight Talk. The streaming service launches in spring 2020.
