As streaming habits grow and change, platforms such as Roku and Pluto are becoming increasingly popular for consumers who want to access a range of channels from their smart TV.
Now both services have announced the release of several new streaming channels. Roku has revealed that 17 new channels will become available on The Roku Channel, which means that the content offering will comprise over 200 channels.
Ashley Hovey, Director of The Roku Channel, said: ‘The demand for free, quality programming continues to be of importance to our streamers. We’ve seen linear streaming explode over the last year and we’re very excited to offer an all-new lineup of great channels with some of the most-recognized franchises to our users.’
New channels coming to Roku include AccuWeather Now, CBC, El Rey, Estrella Games, FilmRise Horror, FilmRise Kids, FilmRise True Crime and IGN.
Elsewhere, Pluto has launched six new channels which are available both free and 24/7. These include all seasons of The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, seasons 7 to 20 of Gunsmoke, Britbox Mysteries, Pluto TV Game Shows and Lupin The 3rd.
