Roku has announced a new Smart Soundbar in partnership with Walmart, as part of the store’s Onn brand. This product comes with Roku built in and can also connect to both existing Roku TVs or any TV, meaning it bodes well for the company in terms of retaining and growing its user base.
In a bid to expand its effort to make itself the leading hub for streaming services, the Onn Roku Smart Soundbar will make it easier for consumers to access movies and TV with the inbuilt 4K Roku streaming player built in.
The smart speaker comes with features such as Night Mode, Speech Clarity and Automatic Volume Levelling. Furthermore, automatic software updates will be delivered to ensure new capabilities become available in a timely manner.
Other features which come with this speaker include Bluetooth, Roku Search for access to top channels, a Roku remote with TV power and channel shortcut buttons and the free Roku mobile app, which allows customers to control the soundbar with the mobile remote as well as stream movies and TV from The Roku Channel.
Roku shares fell 33% in September according to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence. When Apple announced its new streaming service with a low subscription fee of $5 a month, stocks took a fall. The same happened when Comcast introduced a streaming service which would provide free set top boxes to subscribers. It also took a hit when analyst firm Pivotal Research Group said that Roku stock was wildly overvalued, and tied its note to a firm sell rating.
