The People vs OJ Simpson is a true crime series that few streaming fans haven’t heard about, whether they have binge watched it themselves or been recommended by family or friends. This show has been around since 2016 and focuses on the murder case of OJ Simpson. Few may know that this series is actually based on a book – The Run of His Life: The People v OJ Simpson by Jeffrey Tobin, which came out in 1997.
Impressively, The People vs OJ Simpson received 22 Primetime Emmy Award nominations at the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards. They won nine out of the 13 categories they were nominated for, which is more than any other show in the industry. Back in 2014, FX revealed they were working on a season of American Crime Story which comprised 10 episodes. Furthermore, it was unveiled that Ryan Murphy would be directing the pilot episode. While the series had been in development at Fox prior, it moved to their sibling network instead. Murphy and others on the team are reported to have wanted an unbiased edition of the trial to be released, which would give them a ‘plethora of emotions to play with’.

Episode 1 – From the Ashes of Tragedy
Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman are discovered dead after a stabbing outside the Brentwood, Los Angeles condo. Brown’s ex-husband, OJ Simpson, is decided to be a person of interest.
Episode 2 – The Run of His Life
A district attorney issues a statewide manhunt order to track down Simpson. Meanwhile, his suicide letter is discovered.
Episode 3 – The Dream Team
Shapiro compiles a defense team once Simpson is in custody. Clark tells the press that Simpson will be prosecuted for the murders of Simpson and Goldman.
Episode 4 – 100% Not Guilty
Shapiro decides to make use of a strategy where every motion from the prosecution is either objected to or barricaded. Meanwhile, Clark and the team take on a black lawyer for the prosecution.
Episode 5 – The Race Card
A flashback to 1982 is seen, where Cochran is pulled over and nearly arrested by a police officer without good reason. Later, the 1995 murder trial continues, with Cochran humilitating the prosecutors.
Episode 6 – Marcia, Marcia, Marcia
Clark is seen to be struggling with divorce proceedings. The trial is aired on daytime TV, with networks making interruptions to their normal scheduling.
Episode 7 – Conspiracy Theories
Robert Kardashian struggles to believe Simpson’s version of events as there are no other suspects available. Clark and Darden are shown to be becoming increasingly close.
Episode 8 – A Jury in Jail
Those who are on the jury struggle with cabin fever. Meanwhile, the defense works on getting different members who will vote favourably when the trial is over.
Episode 9 – Manna from Heaven
Simpson’s lawyers find tapes of Fuhrman telling harrowing stories about how he would torture, murder and frame black suspects. It is revealed he attacked his own superior, Captain Peggy York.
Episode 10 – The Verdict
Simpson decides not to take the stand, making a brief statement instead. The jury delivers a verdict which prompts shock and joy across the nation.
