DC TV show Stargirl began its two-part season finale last night (August 3rd) with ‘Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E Part 1’.
The episode saw time running out for the heroes of the JSA to stop the villains launching their mass-brainwashing scheme, AKA Project: New America. To make matters worse, the heroes are being hunted, too – Pat (Luke Wilson) and his son Mike (Trae Romano) had to deal with Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins), while Barbara (Amy Smart) was ambushed at home by Tigress (Joy Osmanski). Luckily, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) intervened with her trusty Cosmic Staff, and together her and Barbara defeated Tigress.
The episode then saw a shocking death when Principal Bowin (Hina X. Khan) was eliminated by Sportsmaster and Tigress after insulting their parenting skills.
Meanwhile, Pat helps Rick (Cameron Gellman) to decode his dad’s journal, which reveals a map of tunnels the ISA are hiding out in underground. The heroes plan their attack, then discover what the ISA are really intending to accomplish with Project: New America – it all sounds pretty good (like ending global warming and discrimination), but will kill some 25 million people.
Then, it turns out that the process has already begun, and the heroes have just 30 minutes to stop it. As if things couldn’t get any worse, Barbara and Justin succumb to the ISA’s mind control – and Pat is made to fight Courtney with S.T.R.I.P.E.
