With Comic-Con@Home in full swing, plenty of updates about fan favorite TV shows are being revealed. On Thursday (July 23rd), Amazon Prime Video held four panels via their Virtual-Con portal. The Boys’ panel gave us plenty of information on season 2 – plus the news that the show has already been renewed for season 3.

Executive producer Seth Rogen dropped the news: ‘Because this show has fans and it is watched by people like you, they have decided to renew it. So, if you like The Boys, you’ve got more of it’.

As for the filming date, Rogen jokingly said that the season will start filming ‘hopefully sometime this decade’ – probably a reference to the disruption across the entertainment industry caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Eric Kripke, creator of The Boys, elaborated in a statement that ‘the writers and I are hard at work in the (virtual) writer’s room and we’re sad to say, the world has given us way too much material. We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus’.

The panel premiered a new clip from season 2, featuring a gory incident with a whale. Kripke also gave away a few plot details for the upcoming season: ‘We’re going after white supremacy in season 2, we’re going after white nationalism in season 2, we’re going after systemic racism in season 2’.

It was also announced that there will be an after-show following each episode. Hosted by panel moderator Aisha Tyler and titled Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, the series will feature discussion of each season 2 episode – with special guests from the cast and crew appearing.

Season 2 starts exclusively on Amazon Prime Video September 4th, with three episodes released at once before the show switches to a weekly schedule. You can catch up on The Boys now with a 30 day free trial from Amazon Prime Video, which will also give you access to their massive library of thousands of hours of top content.
