Those who enjoy streaming movies and TV on Plex will soon find their platform is giving them another perk – games. There is a new service coming out called Plex Arcade, and Atari games will be on offer.
While others on the market may be focusing on new titles with the latest graphics and gameplay style, Plex has decided to take an old school approach by providing classic arcade games instead.
Titles subscribers can expect to play include Missile Command, Super Breakout and Centipede, with those who used to own an Atari kept entertained with games from the 2600 and 7800 models.
In total, there will be 27 games available on the platform upon launch, and the good news is a subscription is relatively cheap, too. Those subscribed to Plex Pass get it for $3 a month, while those without the Pass get it for $5 a month.
To get set up, new subscribers will need to have a Plex media server running on their Windows or macOS desktop device. Furthermore, users should bear in mind that Linux is not supported due to Parsec being used for gameplay streaming.
The next step is to sign up for a Parsec account and log into it with Plex. At this point, device compatibility is high. From Android devices and TVs to iOS tablets, Plex states that ‘just about any Bluetooth-enabled controller’ is enabled.
