It’s safe to say that Bridgerton is one of the most popular series on Netflix, and the good news is the streaming platform is making headway when it comes to casting for season two.
Recent news reveals that British actress Simone Ashley has been cast as the love interest for Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), also known as the eldest sibling in the family.
To get some hints on what’s coming up in season two, fans can check out the second book from Julia Quinn in her Bridgerton series, which is called The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Those who are considering the first season, or are part way through, may be interested to know that it was based on the first book – The Duke and I.
Next time around, we will see Anthony Bridgerton looking for his Viscountess, so it’s possible that Ashley could be staying in the role if she ends up involved with the Bridgerton family on a more permanent basis.
Ashley is set to play Kate Sharma, who was originally called Kate Sheffield in the book. Producers at Shondaland changed the surname to reflect Ashley’s South Asian heritage.
She announced the cast news on Twitter, describing Kate as ‘a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools – Anthony Bridgerton very much included.’
The actress has previously appeared in Broadchurch, Detective Pikachu and Sex Education.
