The classic 2005 film Mr and Mrs Smith is being given a revamp by Amazon Prime Video with a new TV series. What’s more, two big names will be taking on the star roles.
Originally, the couple in the spotlight was Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and they played two married contract killers who were hired to murder each other. This time around, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will be in the top slots.
Fans heard about the news from Glover when he promoted it on his Childish Gambino Instagram page, with head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke going on to share it.
Salke has described the two as a ‘dream team’ for the upcoming project, with their history together being notable. In the past, they appeared together in the 2018 Disney flick Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The series is due out in 2022, and both Waller-Bridge and Glover are set to executive produce the series. Fans of Waller-Bridge will know she created and wrote Killing Eve – she is also a writer on the James Bond movie No Time To Die.
Meanwhile, Glove has an FX series, Atlanta, and he has also done other projects with Amazon Studio – notably his musical Guava Island.
