Netflix series Raising Dion, which premiered on the streaming service in early October, has drawn in a legion of fans – and questions about whether it will be renewed for a second season.
The first season, which comprises nine episodes, sees an eight year old superhero as the central character. The focus is on his development, and the cliffhanger at the end of the season sets up a potential new enemy for a second run.
Netflix’s VP of original content gave the series high praise, suggesting in an interview with Variety that the show would provide an alternative angle to the ones comic book fans are used to.
‘We haven’t seen this type of superhero story before — an origin myth full of imagination, wonder and adventure, all grounded in the experiences of a modern single mother.’
Alisha Wainwright and Michael B Jordan star, and Ja’Siah Young plays the central role of the eight year old superhero.
