Disney Plus is delaying the production of its untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series, pushing it back to 2021. The news comes after production was halted on the Lizzie McGuire reboot following the exit of the series’ showrunner.
According to Comicbook.com, Ewan McGregor confirmed that the original release of summer 2020 was being moved to early 2021.
Playing it down, he said: ‘It just slipped to next year, that’s all. Instead of shooting this August, they just want to start shooting in January, that’s all. It’s nothing more dramatic than that. It often happens in projects, they just wanted to push it to next year.’
There are multiple Star Wars series on or coming to Disney Plus, with the most notable of late being the hugely popular show The Mandalorian. There is also set to be a series based on Cassian Andor.
McGregor is known for playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
