Fans of globally renowned series Friends were disgruntled when the show was removed from Netflix ahead of its move to HBO Max when it launches in a few months.
However, they were distracted by news of a reunion special or even a series, with HBO Max execs saying that it would ‘maybe’ happen and talks were taking place.
Now the negotiations have ended, the full cast has reached ‘an agreement in principle’ to do an hour-long, unscripted reunion special as part of the overall effort to assist in launching the streaming service.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry have had positive negotiations along with Warner Bros TV, and the reunion is reported to have a budget of around $20 million.
What’s more, each cast member is said to be receiving between $3 million and $4 million for their appearance. Co creators and executive producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane are reported to be involved in the special, too.
