ESPN has revealed that its documentary on Michael Jordan’s final championship season with the Chicago Bulls will be released in April.
The documentary comprises 10 parts and was originally set to be unveiled in June. However, fans joined forces to request the release be moved up via social media.
The Last Dance will air each Sunday for five weeks on the network between April 19 and May 17. It will be available on Netflix on each following Monday.
Fans can look forward to interviews and never-before-seen footage from former teammates of Jordan such as Steve Kerr and Dennis Rodman.
The docuseries has been in the pipeline since 1997, originating with head coach Phil Jackson and Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf consenting to a crew from NBA Entertainment following the team for the duration of the season.
ESPN issued a statement which said: ‘As society navigates this time without live sports, viewers are still looking to the sports world to escape and enjoy a collective experience.
‘This project celebrates one of the greatest players and dynasties ever, and we hope it can serve as a unifying entertainment experience to fill the role that sports often play in our lives, telling a story that will captivate everyone, not just sports fans.’
