Disney Plus is planning a reboot of Doogie Howser, according to reports. This time, the show will apparently have a teenage girl as the central character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project has a working title of Doogie Kealoha, MD.
The studio for the title is 20th Century Fox TV, which was behind the original. Furthermore, Kourtney King, known for How I Met Your Mother, is working on it.
The lead character is half Asian, half white. Aged 16, she has a genius level of intelligence and got through medical school with no problems, progressing to work as a doctor in Hawaii.
The original series was created by Steven Bochco and David E Kelley, running between 1989 and 1993 on ABC. The title character was played by Neil Patrick Harris.
