Fans of HBO have been excited for the launch of new streaming service HBO Max, which has provided a new way for watching top HBO series and other hits like The Big Bang Theory, Rick and Morty and Friends.
However, there has been some confusion about whether HBO Max can be accessed through Prime Video. As HBO is one of the channels available on Prime Video, it would make sense.
Some may have noticed that Amazon Fire devices are not currently compatible with HBO Max. This is because Amazon and WarnerMedia have yet to work out a deal.
It would appear, then, that this means Prime Video is not yet compatible with HBO Max either – but this will presumably be rectified in the future.
In the meantime, it is unclear how existing HBO customers who access the platform through Prime Video will be able to both redeem their upgrade to HBO Max and retain access to Prime Video.
Amazon pointed out recently that nearly 5 million HBO customers access their streaming subscription through its Prime Video channels.
In fact, they said: ‘Unfortunately, with the launch of HBO Max, AT&T is choosing to deny these loyal HBO customers access to the expanded catalog.
‘We believe that if you’re paying for HBO, you’re entitled to the new programming through the method you’re already using. That’s just good customer service and that’s a priority for us.’
With any luck, HBO Max will provide a solution to those who subscribe to the older service through Prime Video channels soon!
In the meantime, if you’re not signed up to Prime Video, you can do so with a 30 day free trial right here.
