Comic-Con@Home kicked off July 22nd, and already we’ve been treated to plenty of updates on our favourite TV shows. Yesterday (July 23rd), HBO premiered the new trailer for His Dark Materials season 2, which reunites Fleabag stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott. You can watch the trailer on YouTube now.
Season 1 of the hit show saw Lyra (Dafne Keen) set off on a massive adventure through the snowy landscape of the North, accompanied by her daemon Pan (Kit Connor) and a star studded cast – including Hamilton creator and leading man Lin Manuel-Miranda. In Lyra’s world, a daemon is like a physical representation of the soul in the form of an animal. Human and daemon are linked by a strong bond that seems unbreakable – until Lyra discovers the dark experiments of season 1.
The new season will air later this year and will consist of 7 episodes – originally 8 were planned, but unfortunately disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic shortened the season.
We’ll not only see Lyra meet Will (Amir Wilson), but we’ll also meet new character Colonel John Parry (Andrew Scott). His daemon will be voiced by former Fleabag co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, taking the shape of an osprey.
Another three new characters will also be appearing – Giacomo Paradisi (Terence Stamp), Ruta Skadi (Jade Anouka) and Dr Mary Malone (Simone Kirby).
