Apple has been building up the hype for its new streaming service, Apple TV+, with execs describing new sci-fi thriller See as on the same level of Game of Thrones in terms of its ‘epic’ qualities.
Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodward were recently seen on the cover of Emmy Magazine in a promotional effort for the new show, which is rumoured to have cost Apple over $15 million per episode.
The interview saw Apple vice presidents Jamie Erlicht and Zac Van Amburg, who oversee Apple TV+ after being hired from Sony, compare the level of world-building in See to that in Game of Thrones. They said: ‘Can it be as epic as, say, a Game of Thrones? We answer that question early on with a resounding yes!’
See will be part of the Apple TV+ launch, so subscribers will be able to watch it once the service has premiered on November 1. Set 600 years in the future, the show is based on the premise that everyone has lost their sight. When two children are born to a tribe with the gift of sight, the queen of the realm wages war against it in an effort to capture them.
Another Apple TV+ show featured in the magazine was The Morning Show, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. Furthermore, a free three month trial of the platform was offered to subscribers who used the included voucher.
Apple TV+ is offering new subscribers a bunch of incentives and discounts. For example, direct sign ups from within the TV app will unlock access to a free seven day trial. Furthermore, those who purchased an Apple TV, Mac, iPhone or iPad from September 10 will be able to redeem 12 months free for the platform. The service will cost $4.99 a month, which is one of the lowest prices currently on the market.
