Disney+ will be launching in just a few weeks, and new show The Mandalorian has been previewed to a select group of journalists. Lucasfilm revealed 27 minutes of footage to the audience across the first three episodes, and the reactions have mainly been positive.
One journalist described the show as ‘truly incredible’, saying that ‘It looks like the films, feels innately Star Wars, introduces new concepts, and adds layers that people have been waiting to see for a long time.’
Another gave a preview of what viewers can expect, saying ‘There’s a remarkable campfire scene…that’s quieter than anything I’ve seen in Star Wars. Just a group of rogues who mistrust each other, not speaking – just silently munching raw vidalia onions.’
In an interesting twist, one viewer recommended the upcoming series for horror show fans. It was also compared to both Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Predator.
Just watched close to 25 minutes of footage from #TheMandalorian. It’s very cool and atmospheric – sometimes evoking the vibe of Rogue One (which I adore). The title character is instantly fascinating and there are great action and suspense moments, including some Predator vibes

Wow. #TheMandalorian is completely amazing. Saw nearly a half hour of footage from what I was told were the first three episodes. Whoever you think Nick Nolte is … the answer will surprise you. pic.twitter.com/jh3CpZnMW2

The Mandalorian will be released on a weekly basis, with the first episode going live at the same time as the streaming service is launched on November 12, and episode 8 coming out on December 27.
The series is set in between the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the First Order, with viewers following the journey of a gunfighter located in the outer regions of the galaxy – a long distance from the New Republic’s authority.
Pedro Pascal stars as a lone Mandalorian gunfighter, while Gina Carano plays Cara Dune – a former Rebel Shock Trooper. There will also be a man who heads up a guild of bounty hunters, played by Carl Weathers.
