Apple TV+ is now live in over 100 countries and regions across the globe, marking the beginning of a new era in the streaming wars as a new service from a major company becomes available.

From The Morning Show to See and The Elephant Queen, there is a collection of shows and movies available to watch for free as part of the 7 day trial, before subscribers pay $4.99 a month to maintain access to the content.

With the launch of any product or service comes a whole host of questions, and understandably there are plenty surrounding Apple TV Plus. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions and our answers.

What time will Apple TV Plus be available?

Apple TV+ launches on Friday, November 1 on the Apple TV app and the dedicated website. In the US, the service is available from 12am PT, which means that in the US it is on offer from 8am GMT, and other countries can translate their launch time accordingly.

Can you get Apple TV on Roku?

Apple TV+ is available to watch in the Apple TV app, so there are a range of Apple devices such as the iPhone, iPad and Mac that have the app preloaded. Furthermore, many compatible TVs and streaming sticks – such as Roku – are compatible.

If you have a Samsung, LG, Sony or Vizio smart TV, you will be able to download the Apple TV app to use the new service. You can check if your smart TV is a supported model by searching for the app in the dedicated section on your device.

If your device isn’t compatible with the app, there are ways to get around this, such as buying a streaming stick like Roku or the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

What is the Apple TV Plus free year offer?

Those who have purchased a new Apple product – in other words, an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod Touch – on or after September 10 will be eligible for a free year of Apple TV+.

To claim the offer, sign in with your Apple ID on your new device and open the Apple TV app, ensuring you’re running the latest version.

The app will display a button offering the chance to Enjoy 1 Year Free. By tapping on this button and following the instructions, you will then be good to go.

College students who have an Apple Music student subscription are also eligible to gain the Apple TV+ service for free. It is available as part of a bundle, meaning you won’t have to pay anything beyond the usual $4.99 a month for the music plan.

How do I sign up for Apple TV Plus?

To sign up for Apple TV+, you will need an Apple ID. This is used to access the iCloud or downloading apps from the App Store, so you may already have one. If not, you can create one on the Apple site or within the app.

Once you’re signed in on the app or website, simply navigate to the area where the new shows are being promoted and click on the icon to either start your free trial or redeem the special offer of a year free.

How does Apple TV+ family sharing work?

With an Apple TV+ subscription, you will be able to let a total of 6 family members have access to the account with the Family Sharing feature. There is no need to share your account or password as each family member can use their own Apple ID on their own device to set up a profile on the account. With one subscription you will be able to have a total of six different streams running at once.
