There’s another new entrant to the streaming wars, though it may seem familiar.
ViacomCBS will be rebranding their existing streamer CBS All Access to the new name Paramount Plus.
The switch won’t just be a title change, however – plenty of new content will also be arriving to the streamer.
Originals will be developed including The Offer, a limited series focusing on Al Ruddy’s experience of working on The Godfather, as well as a docuseries based on Criminal Minds (titled The Real Criminal Minds), and new spy series Lioness from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
There will also be a revival of The Game and a new version of MTV’s Behind the Music – The Top 40.
Paramount Plus will feature CBS, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon and MTV content – as well as Paramount Pictures productions. This means the streamer will have around 30,000 films and TV show episodes to enjoy.
President-CEO of ViacomCBS, Bob Bakish, said: ‘Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling.
‘With Paramount Plus, we’re excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy’.
Paramount Plus is expected to launch early next year.
Until then, you can check out a 7 day free trial with CBS All Access for content like Star Trek: Lower Decks and Big Brother.
