Dead to Me fans will be happy to hear that Netflix’s hit dark comedy, starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini, will return – especially after season 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger.
The series sees Jen (Applegate) attempting to cope with the death of her husband after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. After meeting Judy (Cardellini) at a support group for widowed spouses, the two begin a friendship – though all is not as it seems.
Season 3 is likely to premiere sometime in 2021, though an exact date is not known yet – and the pandemic could of course cause delays. What we do know is that the third season will wrap up the series for good.
Liz Feldman, Dead to Me’s showrunner, said: ‘there was a certain point when we were in production on season 2 when the end of the show came to me, pretty profoundly, so I realised, ‘I know the story that I have to tell’ and season 3 feels like the right time to do that. It’s just something that came to me organically, and I tend to try to follow the gut feelings I have’.
