Disney Plus has set the ball rolling on the follow up to the cult classic Hocus Pocus, with Jen D’Angelo hired to write the script for Hocus Pocus 2.
Originally reported by Collider, there are sources which indicate that D’Angelo has been given the task of bringing the original cast back together for the project. In other words, this would mean having Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah, Kathy Najimy as Mary and Bette Middler as Winifred.
The original movie was not a huge success in terms of box office sales when it launched in theaters in 1993. However, it has transformed over the years to become a cult classic among fans.
The first film was directed by Kenny Ortega, with a script from Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris. The story was based on one created by David Kirschner. Steven Haft produced the film alongside Kirschner. The male lead of Max was played by Omri Katz, and other notable names in the cast include Vinessa Shaw, Doug Jones and Thora Birch.
D’Angelo has a rich history in the industry. She has been an actress, playing the part of Veronica on Facebook series Loosely Exactly Nicole. Furthermore, she was a writer and producer on LA to Vegas, a sitcom with Fox. She took on the same role for CBS sitcom Happy Together, and was an associate producer for the Netflix action comedy Game Over, Man!
