According to HN Entertainment, Disney is exploring the possibility of developing a whole host of new animated projects for Disney+, based on classics Fantasia, Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland.
Going against a popular trend of taking older animated features and turning them into live-action reboots, Disney is said to be planning new animations based on the classic stories.
It’s said that some of the projects are already in the development stage. For example, the Pinocchio one will focus on Jiminy Cricket – the conscience of young Pinocchio – while the Alice in Wonderland project will have the Cheshire Cat as the star. A project connected to the iconic Disney musical Fantasia is also in the works.
Furthermore, rumours also state that a similar project is being developed based on Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. This will focus on the dwarfs themselves – Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, Dopey and Doc.
It hasn’t yet been confirmed if these projects will materialise in the form of series, feature films, specials or shorts.
Upcoming content besides these projects which are heading for Disney+ includes The Mandalorian, Kenobi, Cassian Andor, WandaVision, Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk and What-If.
