Disney Plus has exceeded expectations since its launch in November 2019, and now the new streaming platform has reached another milestone by achieving over 40 million mobile app downloads in the space of just a few months.
A new report from mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower reveals that 40.9 million downloads of the Disney Plus app have been processed across Apple’s app store and Google Play, primarily in the US market.
Furthermore, it’s reported that the app has generated around $97.2 million in user spending on mobile in just the first 60 days following its launch.
The numbers are particularly impressive when considering the fact that they only take into account one segment of subscriber viewing. It has not included interest across smart TVs, gaming consoles and other devices such as Roku.
With the knowledge that CNET has reported customers prefer to watch Disney+ on TVs, the figure for mobile downloads is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of Disney’s popularity.
Previously, Apptopia reported that Disney+ had been downloaded on mobile 3.2 million times in just its first 24 hours since launching. Further reports have indicated that the platform has been averaging around a million subscribers a day.
